Get to Know Mark

When Mark Johns first campaigned to be the mayor of Heath 16 years ago, it was with one primary reason – to help shape Heath as a place where kids at that time might someday want to return to live, work, and raise their families. To this day, this is still one of his primary motivations.

While serving as our mayor, Mark is a champion for our community in successfully attracting numerous manufacturing companies providing good-paying jobs. He personally reaches out at times to retail, commercial, and restaurant operations and has influenced their decisions to redevelop sites in Heath. And in his role as mayor, Mark works arm-in-arm with the Heath City School District in various ways to help support its efforts of educating our community’s children for the opportunities of tomorrow.

A resident of Heath since 2003, Mark is a familiar face in our city. He speaks at meetings and gatherings of service organizations, and he is always willing to field a question or discuss a topic when approached by a resident in the grocery store. In his spare time, as PA announcer, Markserves as the “Voice of the Bulldogs” – primarily at HHS football and boys basketball games. But he has also volunteered and announced at volleyball, girls basketball, and middle-school basketball events.

Mark continues to be engrained in the vital function of economic development for our city. A founding board member of GROW Licking County CIC, the county’s economic development organization, he has twice served the organization as its chairman. His depth of knowledge in matters which influence the decisions of job-creating businesses, and how local government can work with them to bring them to Heath, have been proven successful many times.

With the unwavering love and support of his wife, two daughters and son-in-law, our mayor of Heath, Mark Johns, has the burning passion, compassion, personality and depth of experience to continue to serve as our mayor in these critical years to come for our area.
